Ravenscoon Ignites Mission Ballroom with Hypnotic Bass & Energy

On February 22, Ravenscoon headlined a sold-out show at Denver’s Mission Ballroom as part of his Glass Orchid Part Two tour. The event featured a lineup of supporting acts, including Manic Focus, Youngsta b2b Criso, Crizzly, and Fryar. The palpable anticipation I had for “Mission Paulroom” grew as each day passed. The show delivered an immersive experience with impressive visual and audio production.

Music

To open the night, Fryar (who doesn’t perform live often), brought the crowd-pleasing anthem with Mersiv, “In Motion.” His transitions between mellow beats and booming bass kept things interesting. The ability to control the vibe from laid-back to high-energy made him the perfect opener for the night. Dubstep legend Crizzly brought in a surge of intensity that melted my face off. I’ve listened to his music growing up and saw him back at Warped Tour ’14. Hearing his 2012 remix with AFK “Chain Hang Low” in 2025 had me feeling nostalgic. He was my favorite support act of the night.

Next on stage was Youngsta b2b Criso who brought the heat with their back-to-back set. It blended old-school UK dubstep with new-school US dubstep. The chemistry between the two was undeniable. Taking the reins for direct support, Manic Focus smoothly weaved up funky basslines and deep grooves. He pushed the energy to a new level, prepping everyone for the headlining performance.

When Ravenscoon finally took the stage, the energy was already at a fever pitch. The sold-out crowd erupted at the first deep, rolling bassline. Known for his ability to fuse melodic storytelling with face-melting drops, Ravenscoon wasted no time immersing fans into his sonic world by playing out new IDs and favorites like his mix on Ray Volpe’s “SEE YOU DROP.”

Production

The visuals were equally mesmerizing — trippy, kaleidoscopic patterns pulsed in sync with the music. Lasers cutting through the air and illuminating the room created a hypnotic atmosphere that felt like a full-on sensory experience. The show delivered an immersive vibe, with attendees noting the impressive visual and audio production.

Mission Ballroom, known for its outstanding acoustics and concert lighting, provided a fitting backdrop for the event. The subwoofer reinforcements provided by PK Sound brought in bass that the venue had never heard before. From the openers and visual effects to the lasers and confetti, that was one of the best bass shows I have ever seen. The Chronic Electronic wrote,

Ravenscoon last night at a sold-out Mission Ballroom show with absolutely POPPIN visual and audio production. HSD did not disappoint.

Overall

By the time his final track faded out, the entire ballroom was buzzing — some fans still lost in the trance of his music, others roaring in appreciation. His seamless transitions kept the momentum going, creating a set that felt both unpredictable and masterfully curated. As he left the stage, it was clear: Ravenscoon delivered a masterful live performance. Limited tickets are still available for the remaining shows on his Glass Orchid Part 2 tour which runs through April 5. Versa EP Marks Dubstep Debut For Beat Intelligence Network

After celebrating five years of citing hot new music on Dubstep FBI, it launched a new music label, Beat Intelligence Network (BIN). For its debut release, BIN features an electrifying debut EP from renowned dubstep artist Versa. This hard-hitting release features two tracks, “Another Yoi Song” and its VIP, setting the tone for BIN’s mission to push the boundaries of bass music while preserving its raw, high-energy roots.

“For as long as I’ve been producing,” said Versa, “I have wanted to make a track that sounds like a group of Yoi basses singing together. ‘Another Yoi Song’ is a collection of my favorite Yoi’s layered together, playing a little tune. After playing it out live a couple of times, I decided to make a higher energy version using the original idea as a fake-out and that is how the VIP happened.”

“Another Yoi Song” immediately dives into a gritty bassline with sharp snares and hi-hats, leading into a seismic drop designed for pure headbanging mayhem. The VIP takes the chaos up a notch, intensifying the track with rapid chops, piercing laser synths, and electrifying robotic energy that’s ready to fuel the dancefloor.

Yoi bass, which originated in drum & bass before becoming a core element of dubstep and riddim, is known for its distinct, vocal-like modulation achieved through precise synth and filter manipulation — an effect Versa masterfully executes in both versions, pushing the limits of heavy bass music.

The collaboration between Versa and Dubstep FBI is nothing new, as they have previously teamed up to curate and amplify his sets at festivals like Forbidden Kingdom, EDC Mexico, and Rampage Open Air. Originally launched as a content hub, Dubstep FBI has broken barriers in the electronic scene through major festival takeovers, high-impact editorial coverage, and a strong network of industry tastemakers. Now, with the launch of BIN, they are expanding their influence by providing a platform for artists to showcase their hard-hitting sound, with Versa leading the charge through the release of “Another Yoi Song.”

“Versa has been one of the most recognizable artists featured on our blog for years now,” said Dubstep FBI. “His music originally caught our ears, but since we got to know him and his team better, we have all become good friends.

“We will never forget our memories in Mexico and Belgium,” Dubstep FBI continues. “Where we grew closer and celebrated some of his most iconic career sets. From late-night festival moments to behind-the-scenes laughs, Versa has always carried himself with a level of authenticity and passion that makes him stand out.”

Versa is set to bring his high-energy performances to the Beat Intelligence Network Club Studio Time launch party on March 7, marking a pivotal moment for the new label. Additionally, he will take the stage at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre on May 17, joining ATLiens for a massive night of bass-fueled mayhem. Of The Trees Brought The Bass To Brooklyn Paramount

On Saturday, February 8, Of The Trees brought his Moonglade Tour to Brooklyn and became the first deep bass artist to play at the newly renovated Brooklyn Paramount. The state-of-the-art facility from the 1920s received a spectacular facelift by Live Nation to transform it into Brooklyn’s newest music cathedral. Of The Trees took full advantage of the venue’s vaulted Baroque architecture and acoustics to produce one of the best bass shows I’ve seen in Brooklyn since the pandemic.

Of The Trees had his cabin set up in the middle of the stage, adorned with plants and giving a natural vibe to the production. The sound quality in the expansive main hall was incredible and the supporting artists did a great job of setting the mood for the evening. FLY got the event started and played a bunch of the memorable flips from his recent Sapphire Mixtape.

EAZYBAKED played next and kept the good vibes flowing. The duo featured a few tracks from its newly released Respawn EP and the crowd ate it up. While the weather outside was snowy and cold, the beats inside felt warm and cozy. The Australian artist Opiuo was the final support act, and he delivered a third masterful set. Opiuo played some of his collabs with ASHEZ and most of the saucy updates from his A Shape of Sound remix EP.

Of The Trees took the stage for his closing set from 11:30 to 1:00 and displayed why the bass artist has amassed such a loyal, adoring fanbase. His edits and transitions were smooth and he let the beautiful music do the talking. His lighting and LED visuals complemented the music well, highlighting the classic features of the venue and creating a spectacle to match the mood of the music.

Towards the end of the set, Of The Trees welcomed Freddy Todd to the stage and they played out a few of their BLAAP collab tracks. But that wouldn’t be the last from BLAAP, because, in true New York fashion, Memory Palace hosted an afterparty with BLAAP until 4 am in The Room at Superior Ingredients.

Moon Lvnding didn’t make it to the afters, but big props to all those who braved the overnight snowstorm to make it across Brooklyn to the former site of Output. Special thanks to the photographer known as shutter.klick for providing amazing photographs of the Moonglade Tour, including the above image from the Superior Ingredients afterparty.

The Moonglade Tour creeps closer to its conclusion, spending its final two weeks traversing the Southeast. Of The Trees will make appearances in the Carolinas, Florida, and Virginia before the tour finale in Atlanta on March 1. For all remaining dates and tickets, head over to the ticketing site. Lift Off: Cyclops Desert

Arizona is home to a lot of things that can pack a punch. From little scorpions that hide under rocks, to rattlesnakes that only warn you moments before they strike! Arizona residents understand that danger always lurks, but are they ready for what lies ahead? Just around the corner, coming with the warmer winds of March is a creature few can survive. It has previously been spotted in the coves of Miami, in the Red Rocks of Colorado, and now it is making its way to the deserts of Chandler, Arizona. Get ready for Cyclops Desert, a Cyclops Army invasion led by the one and only, Subtronics!

On March 7th and 8th, Cyclops Desert will be a full-blown takeover from some of the most iconic bass producers in the industry. Basstipper and Mersiv will push the subwoofers to their absolute max. Desert sands will be dancing to the drums of Hedex and Alleycvt. Each night, those left standing in the aftermath will face the cyclops himself, Subtronics.

For the unprepared, there is still time to ease into the mayhem that is sure to come. Try starting with the transcendent sounds of a new track from Mersiv called “Looking Inward“. Maybe speed it up with Smoakland’s “Liquid Smoke V“, a new drum and bass mix that will take away the pains of a morning commute or fuel a late-night workout. Whether you’re prepared or not, the army is approaching, and you won’t want to miss it.

The critters and creatures who dare will collect in the legendary Wild West atmosphere of Rawhide. If you think you are brave enough to handle both days, secure a full weekend pass here. Individual passes for both Friday and Saturday can also be purchased separately. Hotel packages are also available for all who will make the trip into the dangers of Cyclops Desert. Mission Success: SLANDER

If there is one thing we can say about SLANDER this past weekend, it’s that we felt their drops in our heart and soul. The evening commenced with opening act Redline, who set the tone for the night. Following them were two back-to-back performances from VCTRE and COPYCATT, as well as Moody Good and Chee. Each drop didn’t just rattle the speakers—they coursed through our bodies, vibrating our chests and bones. Kai Wachi took the stage and delivered one of the most explosive sets we have ever seen in our lives. While playing his hit song, “Hollow“, he had every person in the venue screaming along at the top of their lungs (me included.)

Something we noticed early on in the night was the lights set-up on either side of the stage. With anticipation eating away, we could only assume we were in for some heavy-level production—And we were not disappointed! Slicing through the darkness were two walls on either side that pushed out perfect, synchronized laser beams into the crowd. They reached across the entire space and presented visuals from another dimension.

A consistent factor throughout the night was the overall sense of community. I met so many new and inviting people and felt everyone living in the moment like the old days. I could feel myself growing more comfortable and present as the night went on in direct response. A favorite moment of mine was when they slowed it down to play the acoustic version of “Love Is Gone” ft. Dylan Matthew. The duo truly sets the bar when it comes to production and engagement for a show!

There was something so special about the atmosphere at Rawhide this last Saturday. I left with a sense of euphoria, witnessing a night where community and music converged seamlessly—and that’s what it’s all about. For those who missed this landmark event, SLANDER continues their tour with upcoming performances across the country. Follow the socials linked at the bottom for most up to date information regarding their shows!

Who Are Ya: Ghost In Real Life

With the rise of drum & bass in the U.S., artists are stepping into the forefront and leading the charge. Among these artists is Ghost in Real Life (G.I.R.L.), a dynamic, groundbreaking figure in the electronic music scene who uses diverse influences to craft her unique sound. In the ever-evolving world of electronic music, few blend genres and emotions as seamlessly as Ghost in Real Life. Known for her innovative approach to music and bold presence in the drum & bass scene, Ghost in Real Life — named Maggie Beltran in real life — has carved out a distinctive space in the industry.

Before breaking into the electronic music scene, Maggie explored multiple projects, including her high school “coffee shop acoustic moniker,” maggiesinacup, and her college punk band, The Inferiors. These ventures showcase her ability to embrace diverse sounds and use them to her advantage.

Aside from these two projects, another defining moment in her journey came during college, when she faced gender biases in her production classes. “Nobody wanted me to work with them because I was a girl,” said Maggie. “So, I put on a blonde wig, created this project called marillyn, and taught myself how to produce pop music.”

Launched in 2019, Ghost in Real Life was born out of Maggie’s desire to explore electronic music on her terms. The name itself is an acronym for G.I.R.L., chosen to reflect feminine energy without being overtly feminist.

“I wanted something that felt feminine forward but subtle,” she explains.

During the 2020 pandemic, the project came to life when Maggie’s friend loaned her some DJ equipment. She jumped on the livestreaming trend, where she began to hone her craft and attract a loyal following.

Ghost in Real Life’s music has always been rooted in experimentation, showcasing her ability to excel across genres like trap and dubstep. She has since found her place in drum & bass, a genre she describes as rebellious and raw.

“When I heard experimental trap, I was hooked,” Maggie said. “It felt like the punk music I grew up with,” she says. “Eventually, I leaned into drum & bass because it combined the energy I loved with a sense of structure.” After debuting her first drum & bass track, “Youth,” Maggie was hooked.

“It was just so good,” she admits. “I couldn’t not continue doing drum & bass after that.”

Her performances, such as opening for Chase & Status, have cemented her status as a force in the scene. Reflecting on that moment, she shares, “I’ll never forget stepping on stage at the Great Hall, seeing the massive crowd, and thinking, ‘This is exactly where I’m supposed to be.’”

For Ghost In Real Life, music is more than just fun sounds to dance to, it is a statement she shares with the world. Through her tracks, she hopes to inspire confidence and resilience in her fans.

“I’ve always felt trapped in my head because of ADHD, so my music is about finding freedom,” Maggie explains. “I want people to feel empowered to stand up for themselves, be happy, and embrace their emotions.”

Beyond her music, Maggie is passionate about advocating for confidence and self-expression, particularly among women in the industry. Having faced challenges herself, she understands the hurdles women encounter in male-dominated spaces like music production.

“There’s a deficit in confidence among women producers, and I hope I can instill in them the courage to stand up and say, ‘You can do this,’” she shares. Maggie’s determination to empower others is as integral to her journey as her music, making her a role model for aspiring artists.

Maggie’s journey is far from over. With plans to incorporate punk influences into her drum & bass tracks and expand her creative boundaries, Ghost in Real Life is only getting started. “I’ve been listening to a lot of Sex Pistols and Bad Religion lately,” she says. “I’m excited to see how I can bring that raw punk energy into my music.”

As Ghost in Real Life continues to rise, she’s not just making music. She’s creating a movement; one that’s bold and unapologetically her own. Don’t miss out on the chance to catch her as direct support for Muzz on January 24 at Echoplex in Los Angeles, and at a 360 show with Beacon on February 7 at Kingdom in Austin. Be sure to follow her on social media to stay updated on her music, upcoming shows, and more!
