Preview: Texas Eclipse 2024

Music festivals are always more fun when they coincide with events or holidays. Halloween, Valentine’s Day, and New Year’s Eve shows always have a little more life, but what about a festival centered around a cosmic phenomenon?!

Get ready for an astronomical adventure at Texas Eclipse 2024! From April 5-9, music and astronomy enthusiasts will gather in Burnet, Texas, for a unique experience under a total solar eclipse. This rare celestial occasion, estimated to occur on average only once every 400 years at a specific location, will cast Reveille Peak Ranch into darkness for an awe-inspiring 4 minutes and 20 seconds — a phenomenon not expected to recur until February 2343!

This 4-day camping festival will send cosmic waves across the galaxy, featuring some of the biggest headliners from our solar system. Saturn’s rings will shake with bass-heavy sets from Barclay Crenshaw, Boogie T, Subtronics, and Zeds Dead. Feel the funk with Sunsquabi, The Floozies, String Cheese Incident, and Moontricks as nebulous gases swirl in the cosmic dance. We may even make contact with extraterrestrials from the sounds of CloZee, Of The Trees, LSDREAM, and Tipper. Along with seeing dozens of other amazing artists on the lineup, attendees can delve into otherworldly mysteries as scientists and field experts will host panels to help us better understand our cosmic existence.

Tickets and camping passes are available now, with several options to accommodate your availability. Just an hour outside of Austin, shuttle passes will also be offered from the Austin airport and other downtown locations. Follow Total Eclipse using the social media links below and check out its website for the latest announcements.

Body Language Hosts Eric Prydz, Deadmau5 And More At Phoenix Raceway

Relentless Beats’ sub-brand RBDeep brings Body Language out for its Phoenix Raceway debut on February 16 and 17, 2024. With stage takeovers by Adam Beyer’s techno label Drumcode (since 1996!) and State of Mind, Body Language promises to keep the boutique festival vibes among its heavyweight bookings.

Known for showcasing house, techno, and underground stylings, Night 1 will be headlined by Eric Prydz, while six-time GRAMMY-nominated Deadmau5 closes it out on Night 2. Supporting acts are Meduza and Sofi Tukker (throwing down a rare DJ set!) Additional talent includes Charles D, Dubfire, Hugel, Kream, Layton Giordani, Martin Ikin, Never Dull, Omnon, Sammy Virji, and Shermanology.

Eric Prydz just took some time off for the holidays, and Body Language will be a stop on of his North America run. His Melbourne, New York, and Mexico shows last year were incredible and it’s going to be anyone’s guess what he brings out for this round! Deadmau5 also recently posted on Instagram he is finally taking time off on vacation.

Meduza and Sofi Tukker are also wildly recognizable names. Meduza became the biggest global streaming Italian artist in the history of music in Italy with their debut release Piece of Your Heart, nominated for a GRAMMY in 2019. Sofi Tukker had some dance music success but their growth exploded during quarantine in 2020 from their daily-streamed DJ sets, and then their wildly successful live show upon the world re-opening. Having played dozens of fests from Coachella, to Electric Forest and Bonnaroo, and a huge South American tour, their ascent knows no bounds. Seeing a pure DJ set from the duo is a fantastic treat!

Layton Giordani and Kream are also two other artists not to miss! Layton Giordani, based out of New York, makes techno and played b2b with Adam Beyer at Awakenings in Gashouder. Kream, a duo of Norweigan brothers Daniel and Markus Slettebakken, are known for their beautiful take on melodic tech house. They’ve been steadily on the rise since 2023, having joined Eric Prydz in Asia and snagging bookings for EDC not just in Vegas, but also on Orlando’s main stage.

Grab your GA, GA+, or VIP for $125.50, $185.50, and $295.50 before fees respectively. Or, ball out with your crew and book a table and other fun extras at www.BodyLanguageFest.com.

Body Language is produced by Relentless Beats and RBDeep.

Know Before You Go: Dreamstate SoCal

Your trance destination is right around the corner! Dreamstate, the world’s premier all-trance music festival, is a special event filled with music, love, and lights. We’ve compiled some of the best tips to maximize your experience.

Bundle Up

Dreamstate has been chilly in previous years, and this one will be no different. Temperatures are expected to be in the 50s Friday and Saturday night, with possible rain in the forecast. The festival’s move from its previous home at the NOS Event Center to the Queen Mary Waterfront also adds a cool ocean breeze to the equation. Definitely a good festival to bust out some fabulous coats!

Lockers

If you are going to layer up but don’t want to carry a heavy coat around all day, consider utilizing the lockers. Dreamstate has lockers available for rent all weekend, offering a great place to store layers or outfit changes earlier in the day while it’s a bit warmer. Some also provide charging ports for all your devices.

Know the Stages

Dreamstate features four stages: The Dream, The Sequence, The Vision, and The Void. Aptly named, The Dream is the main stage, featuring the biggest names in trance all night long. For a taste of tech trance, hard trance, and some uplifting trance, head on over to The Vision. Psytrance fans will find their home at The Sequence, and a showcase across the genre is typically presented at The Void. Previous years at the NOS had The Dream built as a megastructure, The Vision housed indoors, The Sequence pitched as a tent, and The Void was an open-air stage. It will be interesting to see the stage format at the new venue.

Parking

Dreamstate just released a map of parking and shuttle locations to help attendees find their way around. Be aware that there is no parking on-site, but it is offered just across the bridge in Long Beach. There are a few lots available, with shuttles to and from the parking lots as well as Uber pick-up and drop-off areas. Check out the parking map below to come up with a game plan if you’re driving. Skip-the-line shuttle passes are also being offered at $20.

The Vibes

Dreamstate is one of the best festivals Insomniac puts on, as it brings the trance community together for one massive party. The crowd is typically a little more mature, and everyone is there to have a great time. Trance has a way of putting everyone in a feel-good mood, so don’t be afraid to lose yourself in the music, get in your feels, and maybe even make some new friends. The trance community is one of the most welcoming of any music genre, so relax, say excuse me, and be kind to ensure you have an incredible time.

Escape 2023: Four Artists You Can’t Miss

Spooky season is here ladies and gentlemen, and that means it is finally time for this year’s biggest Halloween event — Escape Halloween 2023 — happening at NOS Event Center October 27 and 28! Here are four artists early in the day to start your Escape off right.

Credit: Insomniac Events // @Kristina Bakrevski

The first artist recommendation to check out on Day 1 is a drum and bass (D&B) artist out of the UK, Wilkinson. He has sold 4M singles, has been streamed over half a billion times and has a double platinum banger “Afterglow.” On top of winning four awards, including “Best Single” and “Best Producer” at the National D&B Awards, his debut album Lazers Not Included went #1 on the official dance chart. He’s played in venues and festivals around the world, in places like Glastonbury, London, Las Vegas, and Ibiza. He blesses the Feeding Grounds stage Friday, so make sure you are there to get your day started with some amazing D&B. Get familiar with some of his hits before you get there, like “Illuminate,” “Used to This,” and “Here For You.”

Another awesome Day 1 artist to hear is a SoCal native, and is quickly becoming one of the biggest up-and-coming artists of the year, Taylor Kade. In 2020, he released his first EP on Circus Records, Back to Life, and ever since, he has been on a roll, including having his own radio show on Insomniac Radio — “Happy Hour with Taylor Kade.” He bring his energetic and unique future bass vibes to the Wicked Woods stage on Friday. Check some of his hits below to get you ready to sing along. “Lonely,” “Love You Like That,” and “Want You Back.”

The first artist on Day 2 I want to highlight is a melodic bass DJ that you need to start to familiarize yourself with, YETEP. Releasing his first debut single in 2022 on Monstercat, “First Place,” he has been on a nonstop climb ever since, while receiving endorsements from giants like Excision, Adventure Club, and Illenium. Amassing a huge following in the few short years he’s been performing, you’re not going to want to miss your chance to catch him and join his already huge fan base Saturday on the Grimm stage. Here are some of his tracks to get you ready to rage: “Petals From A Rose“, “Gravity,” and “Mistakes.”

The second artist on Day 2 is bringing the vibes from Cleveland, DJ TopGun. Releasing his first EP in 2021, Cheap Thrills, and his 2nd EP earlier in the year, City of Freaks. Prior to starting his solo project, he was on tour opening for Lil Xan. Looking to bring his housey vibe to the Sanitarium stage on Saturday, get there early. Check out some his songs and make sure you get there early to check him out. “Took Some,” “Low,” and “The Hangover.”

Remember to prepare ahead of time to make it easier to get to the festival for these awesome early artists. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water, eat some tasty food, and most of all, have fun! Experience all that Escape Halloween has to offer and explore the full festival grounds. Check out some new amazing artists that you may not have heard of yet and enjoy the best Halloween party of 2023!

Insomniac Announces New Hard Dance Festival Bullseye

Basscon, Insomniac’s home for hard dance, released a cryptic video showing a ghost town with a “Coming Soon” banner in a bullseye on social media on October 1. The next day, October 2, Insomniac announced a new hard dance festival, Bullseye, coming to the National Orange Show in California on December 8+9, 2023.

Bullseye seems like it will be Western-themed from the name and advertising so far. It remains to be seen if this new festival will replace Project Z or Wasteland. American hard dance artists who’ve previously released on Basscon Records and played Basscon events like Death Code, Hartshorn, KAMI, and Water Spirit have all been confirmed to play. In a surprising turn of events, American hardcore artist Lil Texas will be performing as his techno alias, Diamond Dallas Tex. SCND CRCL, the techno side project of Darksiderz and CGK, will also be performing.

Insomniac loves a good B2B and there have been a few announced so far. The first is Atmozfears B2B Sound Rush, which is quite fitting after their take on “Country Roads” was released in 2021. Other B2Bs include Gammer B2B Yultron and KAMI vs. Death Code (Live). Check out the rest of the first phase of the lineup below as we eagerly await additional artists to be announced at a later date.

Both GA and VIP Tickets for Bullseye go on sale this Thursday, October 5, at 12 pm PT. GA tickets start at $130 and attendees must be 18+. Follow Basscon using the social media links below and sign up to receive text updates from Basscon to be the first to know when more details are released.
