To add even more excitement to an already out-of-this-world weekend, North Coast also implemented transformative stage upgrades in honor of the 15-year anniversary. The main stage, now Stadium: Evolved, is 95 feet larger, features an extended DJ booth into the crowd, and packs 680 watts of lasers, 270 CO₂ tanks, 16 million video pixels, 317,000 watts of sound, and a revamped rooftop fireworks and pyro show. The former Shipyard has transformed into Shipyard 360, an all-angles experience with 12 pillars of lasers, pyro, CO₂, and high-fidelity audio surrounding a custom DJ booth. The Mega Vega stage also gets a boost with a 20% larger build, 450 watts of lasers, over 5 million lumens of lighting, 24.6 million video pixels, and 135,000 watts of sound.

If you have made it this far, one thing should be extremely clear—this year’s North Coast fest is not one to miss, and neither are the afterparties. Lift Off: Same Same But Different 2025

Each September, as the heat lingers just a little longer in Southern California, something begins to stir on the shores of Lake Perris. The winds pick up, the energy shifts, and thousands begin preparing to gather again, not just for a festival, but for an experience.

Same Same But Different has always lived up to its name. It’s not your typical dust-stained desert throwdown. It’s a soulful lakeside retreat—a psychedelic playground where music, nature, and intentionality collide. And this year, from September 26–28, the beloved boutique festival returns with its most immersive experience yet.

What a Lineup!

This year’s lineup is a genre-hopping, energy-raising celebration of sound. Headlining the weekend is a moment many fans have dreamed of: LSZEE, the fusion of LSDREAM and CloZee‘s collaborative project. It’s a pairing destined to open hearts and expand minds under the stars, blending glitchy psychedelia, grounded bass, and transcendent textures in a way that few artists can achieve.

If that wasn’t enough, Zeds Dead is also set to return to the beach with their signature blend of dubstep, deep house, and melodic intensity, sure to rattle the sand beneath your feet. Meanwhile, Dr. Fresch brings the late-night groove to create the perfect soundtrack for dancing barefoot after midnight.

The bill also features rising stars like ALLEYCVT, SoDown, Sam Blacky, Wonky Willa, Polar Bears, Opiuo, and BOOGIE T.RIO, each curating their own pocket of storytelling across the weekend. What unites them isn’t genre—it’s energy. From sunrise yoga to late-night journeys, SSBD’s lineup is less about who’s popular and more about what resonates.

A Venue That Breathes

Set within the stunning expanse of Lake Perris State Park, Same Same But Different offers something that most music festivals don’t: water. Real, swimmable, floatable water—and lots of it.

By day, the beach turns into a floating party as dozens of inflatables surround the shoreline, DJs spin on the sand, and the sun shines across the lake. By night, the entire venue transforms. Pathways glow with LED art installations, and campgrounds erupt with renegade sound camps and storytelling circles. You’re not just attending a concert—you’re stepping into an entirely different reality.

With a capped attendance of around 7,500, the experience remains intimate and intentional. You can find your friends. You can connect with strangers who feel like old friends. You can dance without shoulder-to-shoulder chaos. It’s a vibe that reminds you why you fell in love with festivals in the first place.

Sustainability, Rooted in Action

What truly sets Same Same But Different apart isn’t the lineup or the location—it’s the mission. At the heart of SSBD is a deep respect for the Earth, and the festival’s sustainability efforts are woven into every aspect of the weekend.

SSBD has pledged to become a zero-waste festival by 2029, and their actions speak louder than any press release. Every waste station is staffed by volunteers trained to help you properly sort compost, recycling, and landfill, turning an everyday task into a community effort. In 2024 alone, they diverted more than a ton of recyclable and compostable material from the landfill, including over 800 pounds of aluminum and nearly 300 pounds of plastic.

In partnership with Trees for the Future, every ticket sold helps plant a tree—over 25,000 have already been planted thanks to SSBD’s growing community. It’s not just a party with a conscience, it’s a party that gives back.

Attendees are encouraged to “Leave It Better,” a gentle but powerful ethos echoed across campsites, beaches, and dance floors. Whether you’re picking up someone else’s can or bringing reusable water bottles and cutlery, you’re part of something larger than yourself. A movement. A culture of care.

Camping Is Its Own Adventure

Camping at SSBD is more than a place to crash—it’s where the magic begins. Whether you’re tucked into a shaded grove with friends or parked with your RV overlooking the lake, the campground pulses with creativity and connection. Impromptu jam sessions break out at 2 AM. Lights flicker from makeshift stages. The boundary between festival and campsite blurs completely.

For many, this is where the most memorable moments happen—over shared snacks, sunrise conversations, and starlit laughter with new friends you somehow feel like you’ve always known.

A Final Word Before We Float

Same Same But Different isn’t about the biggest stage or the flashiest pyrotechnics. It’s about the vibe. The realness. The reconnection to music, to community, and to the planet. It’s for the daydreamers, the wanderers, the ones who crave more than just a good lineup—those who crave meaning. With festivals on the rise, attendees search for something that pushes the boundaries and gives them something fresh and unique.

Whether you’re coming for the bass, the beach, or the beautiful humans that make this experience unlike any other, one thing is certain: this is where you’re meant to be.

We’ll see you in the water!

“Extrasensory” Is Ricky Bamboo’s Sonic Gateway to Another Realm

Toronto’s own Ricky Bamboo returns with “Extrasensory,” a two-track EP that bends bass music into something otherworldly. Released June 12th on Zeds Dead’s Altered States, the project marks his third release on the imprint. He fuses downtempo, dub, and ambient textures with warped basslines and bamboo-inspired percussion. The result is hypnotic, grounded, and deeply transportive.

A student of jungle and drum & bass, Ricky Bamboo’s roots lie in Toronto’s underground rave scene. Over time, he evolved from DJ to producer. Now, his sound blends the past and future with elegant precision. “Extrasensory” opens with the title track, a slow-burning tribute to bass culture and cosmic awareness. It invites listeners into a meditative, dreamlike soundscape.

The second track, Mission Control,” pulses with experimental energy and a psychedelic groove. Wiggling rhythms, dub echoes, and live textures drive the momentum forward. Together, both tracks create a spiritual listening experience, crafted with care and intention. Bamboo says,

A tribute to sample culture, bass wobbles, and dub echoes — this is for the open-minded, tuned into something a little more extrasensory.

Zeds Dead launched Altered States in 2021 to showcase the genre’s softer, more introspective side. The label blends downtempo, house, and ambient bass into a space for sonic exploration. Bamboo joins the ranks with a sound that feels both grounded and galactic. With “Extrasensory,” Ricky Bamboo reaffirms his role as a rhythm alchemist. His music is nostalgic, playful, and always intentional. Whether beneath the stars or in your headphones, this project speaks to something deeper. Tap in, tune out, and let the frequencies take over. Mission Success: Zeds Dead

Intergalactic happiness was spread at Rawhide Event Center with Zeds Dead taking the stage, and boy oh boy was it a Mission Success. Once again, Relentless Beats organized an outstanding show with Zeds Dead, Tape B, Truth, and Sippy! Zeds Dead’s Return to the Spectrum of Interglactic Happiness tour has been a hot topic all over social media, and for good reason; it was one of the best shows of the season at Rawhide. Everything from the ease of access through security and the PLUR of the crowd to the insane production made Zeds Dead a night to remember.

Sippy, an Australian native, brought her flair from down under. She had all the Aussie Aussie Aussie pink pony girls dancing the night away. Rocking her iconic fuzzy glasses, Sippy got the crowd pumped with her feral, carefree stage antics. Never underestimate the openers! Sippy is already a powerhouse and will soon be a household name. She played pop punk remixes with her deep bass lines and drops. When the two genres blend, it adds a nostalgic component to the set, making the dance party much more exciting!

Truth was wonky and surreal, as he pulled the crowd into an alternate dimension, where reality wobbled and shifted. His visuals sliced through the night sky, unlocking your third eye. The crowd was entranced, and Truth left them craving more. On this journey to the next dimension, the lasers were doing what they do to illuminate the way.

Tape B commanded the stage with electrifying energy, completely captivating the crowd! His unique sound had everyone jumping and dancing throughout his set. By this point in the night, Rawhide was packed, and the walls were practically shaking from the intensity of his performance. His tracks were masterfully flipped, mixed, and bursting with vibrancy!

It was over 100 degrees, but that didn’t come close to the heat that Zeds Dead brought to The Valley! Who says being a Deadbeat is a bad thing? From the moment they took the stage, you could feel the passion and ecstasy radiating from them. This Canadian duo recently released their sophomore album, and on theme, they had multiple TVs in front of their decks, which added an extra dimension to their performance. The laser display was amazing! The slow, heavy buildups shook the walls as they delivered a two-hour, jam-packed set filled with all their hits. Everything about this performance was perfection!

It felt like a sold-out show, but with PLUR present throughout the crowd, everyone was fanned one way or another! Keep up with Relentless Beats for updates on upcoming shows at Rawhide Event Center and around the Southwest, as they’re likely to sell out quickly!

Zeds Dead Spreads ‘Intergalactic Happiness’ In NYC

Legendary dubstep duo Zeds Dead took on New York City and played three shows in three days for its loyal fans. Zeds Dead has been on the road for the last few weeks as they start to tour for their sophomore album, Return to the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness.

In addition to back-to-back sellouts of The Great Hall at Avant Gardner in Brooklyn on Friday, March 21 and Saturday, March 22, Zeds Dead played an intimate set at Manhattan’s historic Katz’s Deli on Thursday, March 20. Presented by Project 91, Zeds Dead took over the landmark NYC Deli that’s been open since 1888 for an extended set filled with classic tunes, fresh remixes, and cuts from their new album. However, the question remains: are they patrami guys or corned beef guys? The jury is still out.

If Katz’s Deli was the appetizer, then the weekend performances at Brooklyn’s premiere EDM nightclub, Avant Gardner, was the main course. Zeds Dead secured two separate lineups for the two events in Brooklyn. We love to see the support for women DJs as Hershe opened the night on Friday and Mary Droppinz played in support on Saturday. Also fresh off a new album release, Distinct Motive played in support on Friday before Truth, the label boss of Deep Dark and Dangerous, set the stage for the main event.

Zeds Dead’s set on Friday was filled with tracks from their new album and some special edits for the New York City crowd, featuring NYC recording artists like Frank Sinatra and Jay-Z. In addition to the huge LED board and a boatload of lasers, Zeds Dead kept with the retro TV theme of their tour poster and placed several rows of old TV sets in front of the DJ booth. The images on the TVs complemented the graphics displayed in the background.

Zeds Dead closed out its trifecta of shows on Saturday with Suray Sertin getting the party started. The aforementioned Deadbeats and Altered States producer Mary Droppinz played next before bass music OG Mr. Carmack provided direct support for Zeds Dead. Saturday’s set had a bit less of Friday’s NYC hip-hop and a bit more of the big hits like “Ecstasy of Soul” and “Collapse.” Despite the indoor warehouse vibes of The Great Hall, I enjoyed this tour compared to some of their Deadbeats takeovers of the outdoor Brooklyn Mirage.

With three New York City events in the books, Zeds Dead can now set its sights on Ultra Music Festival and Miami Music Week. Tonight, Thursday, March 27, Zeds Dead will close out an all-star lineup at the Deadbeats vs. Cyclops Recordings show at Mana Wynnwood in Miami. Then on Friday, Zeds Dead will play the 11pm closing set at Ultra’s Live Stage.

A quick look at Zeds Dead’s updated tour flyer shows a bunch of shows with limited tickets remaining, with others completely sold out. If you want to check out Zeds Dead and this spectacular new tour, act now before it is too late. To keep up with all the latest news and announcements from the dubstep duo, hit the links below!
