Beyond The Booth: Automhate & MAD DUBZ Are “The Brothers”

MAD DUBZ and Automhate aren’t actually brothers, but spend five minutes watching them behind the decks or in the studio and you’d never know it. Their new collab, “THE BROTHERS,” is a full-force fusion of two elite dubstep minds. Think brutal basslines, cinematic intros, and more controlled chaos than a Friday night in a warehouse basement. We caught up with both artists to discuss their solo journeys, the unpredictable world of live shows, and how having fun has always been the driving force behind their sound.

MAD DUBZ

Kristen: Your solo sound has always had a gritty, underground energy. How do you channel that when working as part of THE BROTHERS?

MAD DUBZ: Honestly, due to our very similar interests in sound, I have always tried to keep as similar an energy as I always have with my solo stuff. The brothers is mostly trying to focus our solo intents into making the best of both of our skills.

K: From your early productions to now, how has your creative process evolved?

MD: I’ve always tried to stay true to the roots of what I came from, but a big thing for me is how my sound changed after playing live shows. I will always love what I am influenced by, but I’ve really tried to hone in on implementing different new styles since I’ve been playing these insane shows.

K: Who were some of your biggest influences when you first got into production—and have those changed recently?

MD: A few big ones for me have always been Infekt and Aweminus. Those guys are simply the best at doing the sound I enjoy. More recently, automhate has definitely been a huge part of what I’ve been trying to make. So THE BROTHERS has been an amazing opportunity for me to even be a part of. I’ve also recently been super inspired by nimda (I secretly love tearout).

K: What piece of advice would you give to a younger MAD DUBZ just starting out?

MD: Passion and friendship will always be the most important part of growing your self as a artist and producer. Learning new things and enjoying it along the way is sooo important.

K: If you could describe your music career in three words right now, what would they be?

MD: “are you mad?”

Automhate

Kristen: Are there any non-EDM genres that have secretly influenced your sound?

Automhate: Definitely old school hip hop beats influence me a lot. Iàve been listening to hip hop as far as I can remember.

K: What’s been the most satisfying moment in your solo career so far?

A: I rarely feel satisfied to be honest. I always feel like I need to try harder. If anything, I can look back and see that one of my best performing tracks is a collaboration with SVDDEN DEATH and that makes me very happy and proud. He has always been one of my favorite producers so it is a huge achievement for me.

K: In terms of personal growth, how has collaborating with MAD DUBZ pushed you?

A: I really love the creative mindset that he brings into our tunes. It makes it easy to work with him. I love Tom.

K: How important is visual branding and aesthetics to you when thinking about music releases?

A: Very important. Sound and vision are two senses that are very correlated to each other for me.

K: If you had unlimited resources for a live show, what insane idea would you want to pull off?

A: First of all, I love LED walls so I’d probably go crazy on those. Then, I’d love a stage that evolves during the set, like a huge changing machine.

THE BROTHERS

Kristen: When you first decided to team up as THE BROTHERS, what was the mission you set for yourselves?

MD: Honestly, to have fun, and to just focus on what insane music we could make with our friendship and combined skills.

K: Can you tell us about a track you made together that perfectly captures the spirit of “THE BROTHERS?”

MD: Probably the combination of da pit remix intro and drop. We really wanted to contrast some classic European music with an insane, heavy hitting dubstep drop.

K: What’s the biggest lesson you learned from playing a stage as immersive and intense as VOYD Dome?

A: That it doesn’t matter how many people you have in front of you. At the end of the day if you have fun then they are going to have fun as well.

K: What’s one dream venue or festival you’d love to headline together — and why?

A: EDC Las Vegas because I have never played there and headlining the Basspod would be a dream.

MD: EDC Vegas would be a huge one, but maybe also beyond or lost lands! There’s so many good ones.

K: Now that VOYD Dome is in the books, what’s the next milestone you’re chasing as THE BROTHERS?

A: Many more festivals, cool releases, and more fun.

MD: 100% more music and shows, we already have more music we want to do stuff with!

With “THE BROTHERS” officially out today on June 6, Automhate and MAD DUBZ usher in a bold new chapter fueled by brotherhood, raw intensity, and limitless creative energy. This debut proves that THE BROTHERS are a force to be reckoned with, and if it’s any sign of what’s to come, they’re only getting started. PhaseOne Drops ‘TERRANOVA’

PhaseOne, hailing from Sydney, Australia, has quickly established himself in the hardline EDM scene with his unique sound, described as “a symphony of filth.” He fuses metal and electronic music as a producer, guitarist, and songwriter. PhaseOne seamlessly merges his signature high-octane bass sound with soaring melodies, crushing guitar riffs, and a powerful lineup of collaborators from the electronic and rock/metal worlds. He continues to make waves in the industry with the release of his sophomore album, TERRANOVA.

TERRANOVA is an exciting new chapter for PhaseOne. Known for his unique blend of metal and dubstep, he continues to push creative boundaries with this album. Following his 2019 debut, Transcendency, TERRANOVA is a concept-driven collection that dives into the themes of destruction and renewal. The album starts with the cinematic title track, featuring a heartfelt monologue by PhaseOne’s wife. She acts as Mother Nature, reflecting on humanity’s challenges and the promise of Earth’s rebirth. Listen to TERRANOVA now on all music streaming platforms.

“Writing my sophomore album has been a true endeavor, especially following the success of my debut. It took over a year to complete, with personal challenges and creative hurdles, but I’m incredibly proud of the result. It’s more melodic than I expected. Each track has structure—verses, choruses, solos—and incredible vocal toplines. That’s something I feel has been missing in today’s dubstep scene. I wanted to bring that back, while still pushing forward. Clocking in at 10 songs, the album is meticulously curated for quality and impact over quantity. Some might expect more, but I didn’t want to dilute the experience. Every track had to stand out and hold its weight. I didn’t want to make a collection of club bangers; I wanted to tell a story and create something cohesive that flows from beginning to end.” – PhaseOne

Rooted in the Latin phrase “new earth,” TERRANOVA takes listeners on a genre-blending journey that explores themes of growth, hope, environmental awareness, and the darker aspects of human impact. The visuals throughout the project emphasize this concept. The tree of life depicted in “SOS” symbolizes creation; “Pulse” presents a vision of destruction as it burns down this tree; and “Divide” showcases a barren, dystopian aftermath. The final album artwork completes this narrative with an image of a golden, post-human world—resilient, reborn, and thriving.

This year, he has performed at impressive events like SVDDEN DEATH’s Voydome and toured with Crankdat. If you can’t get enough of TERRANOVA and want to have unmatched energy and hear TERRANOVA live, don’t miss PhaseOne throwing down on his nationwide TERRANOVA album summer tour! REZZ Saves NYC Show With Move To SummerStage

Since the pandemic, REZZ has played at The Brooklyn Mirage, New York City’s premier club venue, each year. She planned to continue the tradition this year, with her show booked at the venue for Friday, May 30. But fate had other plans, as The Brooklyn Mirage was forced to postpone its reopening due to delays with its reconstruction and approval from the city.

Fortunately for REZZ fans, her team secured an alternative venue so the show would not need to be postponed or canceled. Instead of a nighttime event in Brooklyn, the show has been moved to a 5pm start at the SummerStage in Manhattan’s famous Central Park. The lineup also remains intact with a strong selection of talented support artists: Mersiv, Nostalgix, G-Space, and isqa.

Those who got their tickets through the DICE ticketing platform needn’t take any action; your DICE tickets will be valid for entry to the show at SummerStage. For anyone trying to send it last minute, final call tickets have been made available for the new venue via Ticketmaster, the ticketing partner for SummerStage. The new start time is 5pm, REZZ plans to go on around 8:30pm, and the show will end at 10pm according to Central Park sound ordinances.

REZZ’s show in New York City is one of just four shows she has penciled into her calendar for 2025, so this is a great opportunity to catch one of her bespoke performances this year. She will perform a second PORTAL show at Washington’s Tacoma Dome on September 26 and host REZZ ROCKS VII at Colorado’s Red Rocks for back-to-back shows on October 18 + 19. Alternatively, REZZ has a busy schedule for all the festival lovers with appearances at Rampage, Shambhala, Veld, Elements, and North Coast this summer.

With a big show on deck, REZZ will unleash a bunch of her freshest tunes at Central Park, including a long-awaited release of her classic “Contorted” and a collab with Chuurch titled “Telepathy,” which both dropped earlier in May. REZZ finishes May with one more song release, “entropy,” scheduled for Friday, May 30. It’s a trippy new tune with Anyma featuring Fknsyd, which REZZ teased in a post on X earlier today.

Regardless of the venue, Friday’s REZZ show will be an evening to remember. New tunes are plentiful, the support is strong, and it’s an incredible opportunity to see REZZ play at one of NYC’s landmark locations. “RELIC” by INFEKT Just Shattered the Riddim Mold

Germany’s riddim heavyweight INFEKT drops “RELIC” via Zeds Dead’s Deadbeats label. Known for his wonky, dark soundscapes, he pushes bass music’s boundaries with hard-hitting, tight production. Moreover, “RELIC” pays homage to a bass style that helped pioneer dubstep but hasn’t had its due recognition lately. INFEKT explains,

“Relic is an homage to a sound that, in my opinion, hasn’t gotten the love it deserves in recent years. I wanted to challenge myself to give it a modern mixdown, with hard-hitting drums and a very tight, full bass—perfect for sound systems. I hope it brings more attention to this style that helped pioneer Dubstep many years ago!

This launch aligns with INFEKT’s national tour and recent packed shows at major festivals including EDC China, EDC Mexico, and Beyond Wonderland. Additionally, fans eagerly anticipated his debut at EDC Las Vegas, the world’s largest electronic festival. These appearances cement his growing status in the global bass scene.

Born in 1997, INFEKT began producing music at just 12 years old, quickly developing his signature dark and wonky dubstep sound. With releases on heavyweight labels like Monstercat and Disciple—and support from Skrillex, Subtronics, and Zeds Dead—he’s cemented his place as a driving force in underground bass.

Deadbeats, the forward-thinking imprint from Zeds Dead, champions artist freedom and innovation across the bass spectrum. Backed by their vision and touring insights, the label has uplifted talents like IMANU, CHEE, and Rusko. With “RELIC”, INFEKT adds his voice to that legacy, pushing the genre into bold, uncharted territory.

As INFEKT’s global fanbase expands, this release marks another milestone in his journey. “RELIC” invites bass lovers worldwide to dive into riddim’s deeper, darker corners with an artist who never plays it safe. Get ready to feel the impact!

System Kids Dares You To “Mess With Me”

Chicago-based producer System Kids is set to make waves with his latest release, “Mess With Me.” The track blends old school dubstep vibes with new trap and wave sounds. Known for his genre-blending remixes and originals, he has been steadily building a reputation within the bass scene, including support from dubstep tastemaker, Excision.

System Kids started releasing remixes on his Soundcloud in 2021. Shortly after, original tracks followed in 2022. He started producing trap and future bass, but recently moved more towards the dubstep and drum and bass genres. In 2024, after a few years of building up his catalog, he released his first EP, Rise. These accomplishments helped him get booked by his hometown festival, North Coast.

“Mess With Me” opens with a sound that’s a combination of a didgeridoo and a machine powering up. From there, booming trap horns and a simple beat consisting of a kick, metallic snare, and cymbals take over. System Kids sounds the alarm, alerting the listener that the drop is imminent. When it hits, wave-inspired synths surge to the forefront. The second drop goes harder than the first, taking influence from riddim with stomping kicks and chops. My only critique of the track is that it ends just as the listener is fully locked in.

‘Mess With Me’ was created from blending new school and old school dubstep,” System Kids shared about his new tune. “I’ve always loved the sound of older styled bass records, so I knew I wanted to incorporate that into ‘Mess With Me.’ Once I came up with the drop, I realized I had something special on my hands. My goal was to create a huge, high-energy festival banger, something that makes people go ‘woah’ when they listen to it for the first time. That element of surprise is really important to me; I always want my listeners to be curious about what’s coming next.

System Kids continues to engage with his audience through social media, offering glimpses into his creative process and the inspiration behind his music. Stay updated with all the latest music releases, show reveals, and news announcements from System Kids by using the links below.

Adventure Club Headlines Reopening Of Mission NY

The dynamic dubstep duo Adventure Club returned to New York City this past Friday, May 16, as headliners for the grand reopening of Mission Nightclub. Adventure Club, who last played in NYC at the Winter Festival in Brooklyn last November, played a special K-pop set at the Manhattan nightclub destination for Asian American talent.

In addition to their full repertoire of K-pop edits, Adventure Club played a range of their melodic remixes, heavy bangers, and tasty mashups they are known for. Of course, they played their new remix of Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” and ended their set with “Light Me Up,” an unreleased collab with Flight School featuring Reve that drops on Friday, May 30.

Having seen over a dozen Adventure Club sets over the years, the K-pop tunes added a fun and fresh element to their performance. If you want to check out an Adventure Club K-pop set for yourself, you’re in luck. They will perform a K-pop Idol set on Day 2 of Insomniac’s Lost In Dreams Festival in Los Angeles on July 12. For a heavier bass set, Adventure Club will also feature at Excision’s Bass Canyon at The Gorge in Washington from August 15 to 17.

For those wanting fresh Adventure Club music, they came roaring into 2025 with the debut of their new monthly Insomniac Radio show on the 4th Monday of every month, familiarly named Superheroes Anonymous. They’ve already got four episodes in the books, and the show mixes are posted to their SoundCloud if you need to get caught up. With a new show to support, Adventure Club’s been busy releasing new songs, too. My favorite tune of 2025 is “Move” with Coleman Hell, and “Nothing To Lose” with Oliverse is a close second.

Adventure Club has also been reaching deep into their archives to share classic EDM remixes from the golden era of OG dubstep over 10 years ago. All the while, they’ve been hinting at a big throwback tour in the works for the fall. To keep up with all the latest show announcements and new music releases, be sure to follow Adventure Club on their social channels below.

DEAFNY & HEXXA Drop “Twin Flame” On BIN

DEAFNY and HEXXA have merged their respective sounds to create “Twin Flame,” an explosive, bass-heavy track featuring DEAFNY’s celestial, melodic touch. Released on the acclaimed Beat Intelligence Network (BIN), “TWIN FLAME” represents a clash of two energies, showcasing the push and pull between opposing forces. The contrast between these energies is visualized in the artwork—the merging of the pink and purple butterfly side with the fiery red, the dark and light, the chaos and the calm, revealing a story of forces destined to align.

‘Twin Flame’ came together so naturally,” HEXXA said. “When DEAFNY originally sent me the idea, I immediately knew the direction we were going to take the collab in, which sometimes isn’t easiest off the bat. We understood each other’s energy and writing style — powerful, cinematic, emotional. It’s about finding that rare person who matches your fire, your passion.

Known for her ability to blend atmospheric melodies with heavy bass, DEAFNY brings powerful depth to the track, while HEXXA fuses it with high-energy basslines that are sure to get crowds dancing. “Twin Flame” takes listeners on a journey from chaos to calm, evolving from earth-shaking drops to melodic, emotional moments.

‘Twin Flame’ is a very special collaboration for me,” DEAFNY said. “From the beginning, I envisioned a powerful track that brought together two strong female artists, and this song truly captures that vision. It strikes a perfect balance between a delicate, emotional melody and a bold, explosive drop. It’s been a pleasure working with HEXXA —her energy and creativity elevated the track even further. There’s no doubt in my mind that this song is going to blow people away.

Timeless Meets Tech House: John Summit Drops Cutting-Edge Remix of “Silence”

Chicago-born producer and DJ John Summit continues to push boundaries and cement himself as one of the biggest names in EDM with his most recent release. An electric, tech-house remix of Delerium’s “Silence,” originally released in 1997.

The track in question was most notably previously remixed by EDM legend Tiesto in 2000. His version of the track was voted by Mixmag readers as the 12th greatest dance track of all time. According to Summit’s Instagram, the song was made for his first-ever arena show at Madison Square Garden in June.

Coming over 25 years after the original song’s release, Summit’s rendition adds a modern feel to the timeless trance/dance track. Infusing his signature tech-house beats and synths with ethereal vocals from Sarah McLachlan to create a fusion that not only pays homage to the legendary track, but also adds a fresh new spin of energy that is sure to set the dancefloor ablaze.

Summit’s “Silence” remix innovates and reinvents a timeless classic while still managing to show reverence and keep the magic of the original track. It showcases his ability to bridge the past and present of EDM.

“As a longtime raver and trance fan, it’s an absolute honor to remix ‘Silence’ by Delerium,” Summit said in his press release. “It’s hard to give justice to such a classic, but I think Sarah McLachlan’s powerful vocals along with my trance infused modern tech house production helps bring this song to life in this current era and I’m so stoked to share this one with the world.”

This release comes on the tail end of three other massive releases in 2025 from the tech-house giant. “Lightyears,” featuring Inéz, “Focus,” featuring CLOVES, and a second remix of Anyma and Ellie Goulding’s “Hypnotized.”

Summit most recently announced his biggest arena show to date. He will be headlining Folsom Field in Boulder, Colorado, which has a capacity of over 40,000. Keep up with John Summit by using the links below.

Big Gigantic Drops 2 Tracks Ahead Of New Album ‘Fluorescence’

Big Gigantic, the funky, genre-blending duo from Colorado, is ushering in a new era with the release of not one, but two new singles. Known for their signature sound, which consists of saxophone and live drums, they have returned with an arsenal of new music ready for festival stages. “Move Around” and “Free Spirits (featuring ALIGN)” offer the first glimpse into their upcoming third full-length album, Fluorescence.

“Move Around” starts with bouncy claps reminiscent of Diplo’s “Express Yourself” before their tried-and-true funky saxophone and dubstep-inspired guitars take over. “‘Move Around’ is our shout-out to New Orleans bounce and a nod to funky bass music—an infectious invitation for everyone to get loose on the dance floor,” says Dominic Lalli (saxophone/production).

On the flip side, “Free Spirits,” featuring rising producer ALIGN, glides into electro-soul territory. With soulful saxophone solos, chopped vocals, and funky guitar, they’ve created a festival-ready anthem. ALIGN, who recently opened for Big Gigantic at Red Rocks, called the collaboration “a perfect fit.” He also said he was “inspired by their set and the funky psychedelic ideas it gave me.”

Bringing Me Down By Effin: His Most Requested ID Yet

Effin is back with one of the most demanded IDs of his career, and it hits like a freight train. Out now, “Bringing Me Down” has dominated his live sets for months, stirring up chaos at every stop. It’s the track that grabs you fast, pulls you under, and doesn’t let go.

Coming in as the second single of his newest album, the track fuses vintage textures with forward-thinking bass design, delivering a track that’s both nostalgic and razor-sharp. The synths feel retro, the basslines hit with modern weight, and the emotional undertow is undeniable. Effin says,

My most requested unreleased song of all time, this one has been the highest point in all my sets. This one pulls you in and throws you for a ride – vintage, but heavy. This one represents everything Effin.”

Effin Lasers

“Bringing Me Down” arrives on the heels of two major collaborations: the genre-melting “DIZZY SPELL” with LSDREAM and the vibey “Ups and Downs” with Tape B. But this solo effort feels especially personal. It’s a raw distillation of the sound Effin’s been building: cinematic, emotional, and unapologetically bold.

Effin has carved out a distinct lane in electronic music with his cinematic flair, retro-futuristic textures, and meticulous sound design. “Bringing Me Down” perfectly captures this spirit—a track that’s both a throwback and a glimpse into the future.

Looking ahead, Effin’s set to make major appearances at Bonnaroo and Shambhala this summer. And with his next project, Daydreams, on the horizon, the Nashville-based producer is poised to push bass music further into uncharted territory. If Cheap Thrills showed us what he’s capable of, Daydreams promises to blow it wide open.

With a relentless drive to push boundaries and a sound all his own, he’s not just riding the wave—he’s designing the future of bass, one throwback-soaked banger at a time. This track marks the start of a bold new era for Effin as he gears up for his next chapter. Stay locked in and connect with Effin’s socials below so you never miss a drop!
