Goldrush: Midnight Riders galloped into Rawhide, leaving plenty of dust behind. For two nights, Arizona’s bass heads, house lovers, and techno riders transformed the Western town into an electric frontier. From sunset singalongs to rail-rattling drops, every corner of Rawhide carried its own story.
Unlike most festival weekends, Goldrush felt alive long before the headliners arrived. Cowboy hats, fringe, and rhinestones flooded the grounds as friends reunited between saloon storefronts. Meanwhile, roaming performers and themed activations kept the Wild West atmosphere fully intact. The setting made every stage feel like its own destination.
Night One: The Ride Begins
Friday wasted no time finding its rhythm. Green Velvet delivered one of the weekend’s strongest groove-filled performances. His infectious house rhythms kept dancers moving without letting the energy dip. Meanwhile, Zoey808 injected wonky chaos into the night with his signature crowd control. Kaivon shifted the atmosphere with soaring OG melodies and emotional builds. His set created one of Friday’s most heartfelt moments beneath the Arizona sky. Then Sullivan King slammed the crowd back into bass-heavy territory with explosive drops. The emotional whiplash somehow worked perfectly.
As the night reached its peak, deadmau5 reminded everyone why his catalog remains timeless. Festival anthems echoed across Rawhide while thousands danced along to every beat. First time deadmau5-er and definitely won’t be a last. Fireworks and lasers amplified the moment without overpowering it, leaving the kind of energy that carried straight into Saturday.
Night Two: Full-Throttle Frontier
Saturday arrived with even bigger anticipation across the festival grounds. Western-style excitement returned early as fans swapped stories from the night before. Surf Mesa kicked things off early, then Valentino Khan injected playful chaos with his signature crowd control. Deathpact delivered one of the night’s highlight sets, mixing genres and giving us a little bit of everything.
However, the main spotlight of the night was, you guessed it, GRiZ. As soon as he stepped onto the stage, the mood completely changed. His signature blend of funk, bass, and soulful energy gave Saturday a refreshing contrast. As an avid GRiZ fan, this might have been one of the best GRiZ sets I have ever seen. Every saxophone moment drew louder cheers across the crowd, and it felt like the entire venue smiled at once.
Martin Garrix closed the weekend with festival-sized emotion and massive production. Hands stayed raised as fireworks blasted through the desert air one final time. The closing moments felt less like goodbye and more like one last celebration together. Goldrush knew exactly how to stick the landing.
More Than Music
The Western theme elevated everything around the music. Walking between stages meant passing saloons, glowing lights, and larger-than-life installations. Compared to last year, this year felt more expansive, as every path offered an unexpected side quest. One of them being a new concept to this year’s festival: the secret Porta Potty stage, which took you into a realm where performance speaks for itself.
Food stops turned into recharge stations before the next sprint across the grounds. Whether you wanted to send a Goldrush postcard to family or challenge a friend to some arcade games, they truly had it all. The delivery of massive production and installations without losing a sense of community is one of my favorite things about this festival. It really highlighted that balance has become one of Goldrush’s greatest strengths.
This year just proved why Rawhide remains Arizona’s perfect festival playground. With stacked performances and passionate crowds, Goldrush: Midnight Riders created another unforgettable chapter. Whether you came for Martin Garrix, GRiZ, deadmau5, or Sullivan King, everyone left with their own favorite moment. The dust has settled, but this ride will stick around long after the boots come off.
