Zeds Dead Unveils Return to the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness Feature Film

Legendary DJ and producer duo Zeds Dead have unveiled the highly anticipated conceptual film for their sophomore album, Return to the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness. This visual companion, directed by Callum Gilles and Zeds Dead, expands the album’s sonic world. Together they weave a mesmerizing audiovisual journey through space, time, and sound.

The album concept is a unique blend of nostalgia and innovation—the idea of a television picking up different radio and TV stations from the past century. It draws deep inspiration from Zeds Dead’s live show experience over the past few years. Sampling has always been a vital part of their creative process, stemming from their hip-hop roots. Return to the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness embraces this tradition, blending snippets of old records and films nostalgically and innovatively.

The film showcases a surreal and hypnotic visual style. It takes viewers on a kaleidoscopic journey where sound, light, and radio waves merge into a limitless, ever-changing narrative. This narrative transcends a simple story; it offers an immersive experience that captivates and engages the audience. Whether sonic or visual, transmissions never truly vanish; instead, they drift endlessly through the cosmos, waiting to be rediscovered.

“In making Return to the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness, we connected with the spirit of what Zeds Dead is. We threw whatever crossed our minds at the wall and observed what stuck. One of our biggest inspirations for this album was the idea of not letting anything matter in our creative process except our own taste. It is very much art for art’s sake, and we both fully stand behind the product.” Zeds Dead
