The Netherlands has been producing some amazing rawstyle duos over the last few years, including Collusion and Dual Damage. Phantom are adding themselves to that list with their latest track “Poltergeist,” released on Spoontech Records on February 7th.
Since 2021, Phantom has released tracks on Upcoming Records and Theracords, before signing with Spoontech in 2022. Last year was a breakout year for them, as they played the purple stage at Defqon. 1 in June, and in September they signed with Limitless Agency.
Phantom has always embraced the more frightening side of hard dance, but they have really refined their sound on “Poltergeist.” A grating voice over hair-raising synths, and a basic kick-snare drum beat that Phantom are known to sprinkle throughout their tracks starts things off. The booming techno-style kick takes over before surrendering to distorted, gated kicks and destructive kick rolls. The kick changes a few times throughout, becoming more aggressive each time as the poltergeist warns the listener what it will do to them if they don’t stay away. Phantom created a creepy music video to go along with the track, which you can watch below.
