Australian producer EDDIE has been releasing music since 2017 and his sound has definitely evolved since then. Over the last few years, he has left the house genre behind in favor of a more dark, midtempo sound. Today he released “Damned,” his collaboration with Canadian producer FISE on Rezz’s HypnoVizion imprint. He previously collaborated with Rezz on her track “Time.” On vocals, they have recruited Colleen D’Agostino, best known for her vocals on Deadmau5’s track “Seeya.”
In addition to being a music producer, FISE has also created visuals for Rezz and Svdden Death. He made the artwork and music video for “Damned.” FISE independently released his first solo track “Ridin” in 2020, and “Damned” is his first released collaboration.
Before working with Deadmau5, Colleen was the lead singer for the Southern California-based rock band The Material. “Damned” marks the second collaboration between EDDIE and Colleen; they previously worked together on “Somewhere In Between.” She has also been featured on tracks by No Mana and Attlas.
“‘DAMNED’ is a song about resisting the demons that try to pull us down. When I wrote the lyrics, I’d been dealing with health issues, anxiety, and depression. It kind of served as a reminder to myself to keep fighting.” – Colleen D’Agostino
This trio has combined their talents to create a stirring track right at home on HypnoVizion. The track immediately gives a creepy vibe, opening with a soul-stirring piano melody beneath Colleen’s vocals. As the drums kick in, the intensity increases before giving way to a bouncy midtempo beat. The second half of the drop is layered with dubstep elements. Colleen’s vocal delivery ranges from ethereal to taut, adding more power and emotion to the song.
