While on sight at Bass Camp 2024, Moon Lvnding enjoyed catching up with Whipped Cream! Check out what she had to say below in our latest interview:
Erika Minnix: Your new album, ‘is this real?‘ was released a month ago. What inspired your lyrics and sound for this album?
Whipped Cream: Everything happening in my life was translated into the songs. It was meant as a diary, but I realized I wanted others to share what I was going through. Hopefully, other people can relate and feel good, and they can get over it and get through it.
EM: Artists can see when their songs have been added to playlists. What’s one of the most memorable playlist names you’ve had your songs added to?
WC: Honestly, I’m grateful for every playlist that my music gets put into because that’s how people usually discover me. It doesn’t matter to me because the more playlists my music is on, the more people are exposed to it. Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, and even Amazon Music have all been so supportive. It’s just that people are hearing the music, and helping share it means a lot.
EM: As you continue to evolve, what influences you? What continues to inspire and push you further?
WC: I enjoy the present moment, life, and nature. I connect with myself and with people who make me feel really good naturally and energetically. I also meditate, do yoga, and listen to music I enjoy.
EM: Who is your dream collab?
WC: My dream collaboration is Ye. I really like indie. Florence & The Machine would be a sick collaboration. I would also love to work with A$AP Rocky, Pharrell, Dr. Dre, or anyone who’s a prominent name that pioneered hip-hop or draws inspiration from it. I would be thrilled to work with someone who inspired my sound.
EM: What is your favorite venue that you’ve played?
WC: A few favorite venues I’ve played include Lalapoolza Perry’s Stage and Ultra Miami. Playing at Coachella was incredible, and obviously Tomorrowland.
EM: What is your favorite festival you’ve attended where you weren’t performing?
WC: Probably Coachella.
EM: I’m sure you spend a lot of time on the road with your tour happening right now. What is your favorite travel snack?
WC: Probably unsalted almonds.
EM: What advice would you give to women trying to break into the music industry?
WC: You have to love what you do as a female producer. If you do it for the applause, that is different from what you will always receive. You will have a lot of doubters and interesting chaotic energy as a female producer. If you love it so much, then nothing will be able to stop you. You’re just going to do it out of love and make it by working hard, and then you will let your art do the talking. You can’t let your outer world affect your inner world. You have to protect yourself.
EM: This has been great! I’m Erika Minnix with Moon Lvnding. Thank you so much for joining me, Whipped Cream!
