Labor Day Weekend in New York City brought the American debut of the famed S2O water festival. Pulse Events turned The Brooklyn Mirage and Avant Gardner into a summer festival destination for the Thai Songkran celebration. Marshmello, Subtronics, Timmy Trumpet, and ARMNHMR highlighted a stacked two-day lineup.
The main stage at The Brooklyn Mirage featured five headline artists each day, complemented by a pair of local Asian-American artists making their debut in front of the big screen. The stage was equipped with spiral water guns and strong water cannons, soaking the eager festivalgoers. Then when the sun went down, a row of pyrotechnics lit up the night with fireworks and flames. Nothing like a festival atmosphere to bring international icons like Timmy Trumpet to New York for his Brooklyn Mirage debut.
For those who needed a break from the water cannons, Kings Hall offered a side stage with more local Asian-American DJs and producers The Great Hall added to the festival atmosphere with S2O and artist merch for the event and a place for people to sit and take a break away from the music. The gourmet food court provided pizzas, sandwiches, and tenders to round out the day-night party.
Pulse Events has mastered the ability to transform New York’s biggest nightclub into an immersive festival, starting with their successful Spring Festival earlier this year at Avant Gardner. Now with S2O Festival, it’s got another splashing success, bringing the Thai tradition into the thick of US festival season. From what I saw in the crowd, it looked like ecstatic fans will be ready for more S2O when, hopefully, it comes back next year.
Now all eyes turn to Pulse Events’ next big party in Brooklyn for Winter Festival, featuring Adventure Club and a pair of marquee back-to-back sets on November 16. To keep up with all the latest news from one of New York’s leading event brands, use the social links below.
