Chicago-born producer and DJ John Summit continues to push boundaries and cement himself as one of the biggest names in EDM with his most recent release. An electric, tech-house remix of Delerium’s “Silence,” originally released in 1997.

The track in question was most notably previously remixed by EDM legend Tiesto in 2000. His version of the track was voted by Mixmag readers as the 12th greatest dance track of all time. According to Summit’s Instagram, the song was made for his first-ever arena show at Madison Square Garden in June.
Coming over 25 years after the original song’s release, Summit’s rendition adds a modern feel to the timeless trance/dance track. Infusing his signature tech-house beats and synths with ethereal vocals from Sarah McLachlan to create a fusion that not only pays homage to the legendary track, but also adds a fresh new spin of energy that is sure to set the dancefloor ablaze.
Summit’s “Silence” remix innovates and reinvents a timeless classic while still managing to show reverence and keep the magic of the original track. It showcases his ability to bridge the past and present of EDM.
“As a longtime raver and trance fan, it’s an absolute honor to remix ‘Silence’ by Delerium,” Summit said in his press release. “It’s hard to give justice to such a classic, but I think Sarah McLachlan’s powerful vocals along with my trance infused modern tech house production helps bring this song to life in this current era and I’m so stoked to share this one with the world.”
This release comes on the tail end of three other massive releases in 2025 from the tech-house giant. “Lightyears,” featuring Inéz, “Focus,” featuring CLOVES, and a second remix of Anyma and Ellie Goulding’s “Hypnotized.”
Summit most recently announced his biggest arena show to date. He will be headlining Folsom Field in Boulder, Colorado, which has a capacity of over 40,000. Keep up with John Summit by using the links below.
