Maribou State Ready For NYC Spotlight

The English duo Maribou State brings their live act to New York City this Thursday, June 25, through Sunday, June 28, playing at the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden, in support of Rufus Du Sol on their North American tour. Playing the biggest stage in the biggest city in the U.S. as support for one of electronic music’s biggest acts shows the worldwide popularity and reach of Maribou State’s third studio album, Hallucinating Love. Very limited tickets remain for the four nights of the Rufus Du Sol tour with Maribou State at MSG in The Big Apple, as well as their last few dates on the tour in Birmingham on June 30 and Mexico City on July 4.

The first few weeks of the Rufus Du Sol tour have been a smashing success for Maribou State, with performances at some of the country’s most iconic venues, like The Gorge in Washington and Fenway Park in Boston. After this weekend at Madison Square Garden, Maribou State finishes their run with Rufus Du Sol at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City, regarded as one of the world’s finest stadium concert venues.

It has been a wild year and a half since Maribou State released their third album, Hallucinating Love, with Ninja Tune on January 31, 2025, but the journey for Chris Davids and Liam Ivory began in 2011. They released their Habitat EP on Fat Cat Records before more releases on Fatboy Slim’s Southern Fried label. It wasn’t until their 2015 album Portraits that Maribou State signed with the dance label Ninja Tune.

Their second studio album, Kingdoms in Colour, arrived in 2018 and led to European and North American tours in 2019. But after the worldwide pandemic and Davids’ recovery from brain surgery, the duo took time to reflect on their struggles and make brighter, more hopeful music. Six years on from their second release, Hallucinating Love shows the warmth and resilience that come from persevering through life’s challenges.

The first track, “Blackoak,” stands out with its strings as a quintessential Maribou State tune, while “Otherside” and “Peace Talk” feature the return of vocalist and collaborator Holly Walker. Andreya Triana shines on the sultry “All I Need,” while “Dance on the World” is ready to get the dancefloor moving as the highlight in any DJ set.

Performing alongside Chris Davids and Liam Ivory for Maribou State’s live performances with Rufus Du Sol are drummer Jonny Cade, vocalist Talulah Ruby, and artist Alps 2. The live performances on tour allow Maribou State the rare opportunity to bring the sound of Hallucinating Love and their earlier work to life onstage with live instrumentation. The duo will also play a sold-out DJ set at NYC’s Public Records Nursery on Saturday afternoon before the MSG show on June 27.

If you can’t make it to Maribou State’s run of shows with Rufus Du Sol, maybe a trip to Europe is in order. Maribou State play an action-packed slate of European festivals all summer long, with highlights like Iceland Eclipse 2026 and a headline performance at Lido Festival in London.
