Cercle Goes Full Circle: 360° of Cercle Odyssey

Originally announced in June 2024, Cercle Odyssey has officially kicked off its first series of solo shows, debuting this past April in Mexico City, with upcoming performances set for May and June 2025 in Los Angeles and Paris. Featuring artists like Empire of the Sun, Bonobo, Ben Böhmer, and more to be announced, the launch marks an exciting milestone in what has been a long but rewarding journey for the Cercle team.

Known for curating remarkably breathtaking live performances in some of the world’s most iconic locations, Cercle has captured global attention with several of its most memorable sets in recent years—from Ben Böhmer floating above the Cappadocian landscape in a hot air balloon, to French Kiwi Juice performing in the heart of Bolivia’s Salar de Uyuni salt flats, and Disclosure’s long-awaited return above the waterfalls of Croatia’s Plitvice Lakes National Park.

Building on this legacy, Cercle Odyssey expands the platform’s artistic and production capabilities. Founded by Derek Barbolla in 2016 with the idea of livestreaming electronic music sets in unconventional spaces, Cercle has evolved into a global force, and Odyssey represents its most ambitious concept to date.

Cercle Odyssey introduces the world’s first large-scale 360-degree immersive installation, featuring 2,300 square meters of 8K projection screens and 72 L-Acoustics speakers surrounding a 50-meter-long, 10-meter-high circular structure. Staying true to Cercle’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, all sound, lighting, and projection equipment is sourced and rented locally. The show aims to deliver an extraordinary audiovisual experience while minimizing its environmental footprint. By using projectors instead of LED screens, it significantly reduces energy consumption without compromising quality or creativity.

The 360-degree design fully envelops the audience in sound, motion, and visuals. With the support of leading audio researchers, manufacturers, and technology partners, Cercle Odyssey employs advanced 3D venue modeling and spatialization techniques to create an expansive, multidimensional sound environment. Attendees can move throughout the space, experiencing each performance from varying perspectives, making every moment feel personal, fluid, and dynamic.

In terms of musical programming, Cercle Odyssey will continue to collaborate with artists from various genres and backgrounds, curating performances that seamlessly blend sound and visual elements.

One of the more distinctive elements of Cercle Odyssey is its strict no-phones policy. To help audiences fully immerse themselves in the experience, phones are securely locked in pouches upon entry. Attendees can keep their pouches with them throughout the show and, if needed, visit a designated phone zone inside the venue where a staff member can unlock them. Guests will receive a folder of filmed content from the show they attended, allowing the memory to live on distraction-free.

For Cercle, Odyssey is not just a new concept; it represents the natural evolution of a journey that began with a simple question: how can more people participate in the experience? As founder and creative director Derek Barbolla shared in Behind Cercle Odyssey | Chapter One: The Call of the Unknown, “Every week, we offered a new concert in a new location, unique, of natural or cultural heritage in the world. And step by step, we developed this concept into the creation of a festival, a record label, or musical travel experiences. And at some point I asked myself: How can we make sure that these thousands of people who follow us could participate in a Cercle experience? How could we rethink a Cercle experience closer to people’s homes? That’s how the idea of Cercle Odyssey came to life.”

Odyssey, in many ways, represents a full-circle moment—not just in structure, but in spirit. It brings Cercle’s signature blend of sound, storytelling, and visual immersion to a new venue that invites more people in while still delivering the magic of its far-off origins. It’s a Cercle experience that doesn’t require a mountaintop or a monument—just a willingness to step inside the circle.

And for those ready to do so, your next opportunity will be the upcoming shows in Los Angeles and Paris this May and June 2025, with tickets available now at odyssey.cercle.io.
