Last Friday, July 28, 2023, Zeds Dead and the Deadbeats team took over The Brooklyn Mirage for a massive two-room sellout event with over 10 artists on the lineup. In addition to the Friday night show, Deadbeats also rented out a separate space on Saturday — Fine & Raw Chocolate Factory, just a few blocks from Friday’s venue. The chocolate factory was home to two unique DeadBeats events: a pop-up showcasing some of Hooks’ works of art during the day, and an Altered States show later that night.
Friday’s Deadbeats New York show topped last year’s version with more artists and better visuals than ever before. The second stage — Kings Hall — offered an indoor venue with cool AC blasting and hot drum and bass booming. Over on the main stage, some of bass music’s best young artists graced the decks to play at America’s premier club venue.
Moon Lvnding was able to catch up with ROSSY, who we featured last month, to ask a few questions about how the Los Angeles-based artist enjoyed her Brooklyn Mirage debut. “The BK Mirage is a dream venue for so many artists, including myself and I feel so honored I got to be there and I’m deeply thankful,” she shared. “It was such a beautiful experience and I feel so lucky that I got to be someone who plays that venue. Very thankful to Deadbeats for having me be a part of that show! Really made a huge dream come true.”
One of the central features that define the Brooklyn Mirage experience is the massive 200-foot 4K high-definition LED wall behind the DJ decks. It is a treat to see the artists’ visuals come to life and complement the music on the big screen, so we asked ROSSY to give us the scoop on her designs. “All the rainbow and thermal screen graphics are of me! I worked on those with my talented friends Miguel and Glen and it turned out so sick. It was wild to see them blown up on a screen of that size.” Other graphics for her set included the artist’s name in a variety of creative fonts and images from her most recent EP and Tour, Heavens Door.
Although we did not get the chance to see the Altered States show Saturday night, Moon Lvnding was on hand to check out the Deadbeats art show during the day. Check back later this week for a photo gallery dedicated to the cool pieces Hooks showed off in New York City.
