On Friday, July 25th, 2025, Valles Caldera National Preserve celebrated its 25th anniversary as a public land unit. Nestled in northern New Mexico, this 89,000-acre National Park boasts a diverse landscape filled with numerous recreational and entertainment opportunities.
As part of the weekend’s festivities, Valles Caldera hosted their second silent disco. This was a follow-up to the successful event held during the spring 2025 Arts-in-the-Park quarterly event. This time around, the park upped its game, having multiple free events over three nights. The park brought in local up-and-coming DJs as part of their ongoing efforts to help support local artists.

Each night included a sunset and evening set, using the beautiful backdrop of open grassland and meadows in Valle Grande. Once the sun set, it was then blanketed under the stars and the Milky Way. Friday featured TrillBot and Pocket Elephant, Saturday featured Burn the Disco and Fission Project, and Sunday featured Slow Rolla and Yommy.
By bringing their unique sounds to this all-age event, these artists helped bring in over 60 park visitors who had never visited before. This aided the park in hitting one of its main goals for this experimental program: bringing new people into the park. Total visitation topped out at nearly 200 visitors.
Going forward, the park hopes to be able to run this special program during each of their quarterly community event festivals. Those include Fall Fiesta in the fall, Winterfest in the winter, Arts-in-the-Park in the spring, and Caldera After Hours in the summer.
