Hot on the heels of the release of their much-anticipated “BUBBLE BASS,” YOOKiE’s exploration of left-field bass on “GRiME SHT” feels perfectly in step with their previous discography, and potentially a step ahead of the pack into uncharted territory. Known for festival bangers like “Lions – Dr P Remix”, their iconic remix of “Another Dimension” originally by NGHTMRE and Dillon Francis, their 2016 hit “After All” on Never Say Die with SLANDER and Jinzo, and the duo’s absolute domination behind the decks at Lost Lands, Basscanyon and EDC Las Vegas, YOOKiE are a mainstay but always evolving. With their new debut single, YOOKiE really went for it and took us to that classic one deeper with the delivery of “GRiME SHT” from their upcoming “WOOKiE” EP dropping later this spring on Wakaan.
Supported by Wakaan label boss Liquid Stranger out on tour – “GRiME SHT” is a perfect mid-set vibe reset with floaty opening whispers similar to “BUBBLE BASS,” and creative rap verses paired with YOOKiE’s ever-captivating bass. Not only is it minimalistic trap perfection with a thick coating of left-field bass guaranteed to give you a stank-face, but the brothers on the vocals really bring it home, fully showcasing their endless creative talents.
I’m not sure what’s more engaging – the sick beat or the entertaining rap lyrics as they define exactly what is “GRiME SHT:” “straight slime shit, it’s tha fuckin’ sour lime shit, that loose your mind shit, it’s that fuckin’ grade A prime shit, ahead tha time shit, they gonna copy like a mime shit still on some crime shit.” This writer thinks it’s more like: it’s that shit the audience is going to rap back at them at a show because it’s so damn catchy.
