After a huge 2020 full of releases, Subshock & Evangelos are back with their second release of the new year, this time on Night Mode Records. The Spanish duo digs deep for its brand new two-track Want U EP, gracing fans with a little house and a little drum and bass.
Track one, “Don’t Wanna,” leads in with a deep bass and a glassy vocal, offering the listener a hook to latch on to. As the track builds, more elements are introduced before collapsing into a dark and groovy drop. The darkness of the soundscape, paired with the swing and syncopation of the house drums, resembles some UK Garage influences. Finished off with a vocal chop melody, Subshock & Evangelos created a seriously catchy tune.
“If You Wanna” (ft. Voicians) keeps some of the same energy from the previous track, opening with filtered bass and vocals, this time with guitar accompaniment. The track quickly evolves from its sparse halftime feel to an energetic drum and bass climax. The centerpiece of this track is the staple supersaws of future bass, over a classic DnB groove. The second half of the drop reintroduces the guitar, setting the track up to fall and rise once again.
