Almost two months after the release of his debut Wakaan EP Revolve, ascending bass music talent Ravenscoon has made his way to downtempo brother label Sskwan. “Drowning” with illanthropy. is the latest downtempo brainchild of this lethal producer pairing, culminating from the past year of incredible emotion and turmoil. The motif of water perfectly encapsulates the feelings many of us have experienced lately; the feelings of being overwhelmed, cleansed and born anew.
The record begins with a heavily filtered and subdued topline. The floating melody is then joined by a deep, brooding bass synth that carries the slow, yet methodical march of the song. Listeners are enveloped by the deep bass and entranced by the melody. The percussion is quite spacious, punctuating each bar with emphasis. After a brief interlude, the bass once again takes over as well as two distinct melodies, further engulfing the listener with the track’s sonic vibrations.
Ravenscoon is one of the hottest up-and-comers in the bass music community, cultivating a dedicated following of bass music enthusiasts. While also taking noteworthy influence from wave and DnB, Ravenscoon is surely a producer to keep your eyes on. illanthropy. has also made quite a name for himself in the underground, showcasing his incredible sound design prowess.
