Michigan-based Mistah Dill has been on a tear in 2021. From opening for numerous touring acts to playing multiple festivals across the Midwest, the rising bass music talent is making his name for himself in the scene. His newest single “Know Me” is one of my favorite works from him to-date.
“Know Me” taps into a darker side of Mistah Dill’s sound design and production, using brooding, sustained bass synths with haunting, almost other-worldly sounding FX. A classic sample of a Darth Vader-esque labored breathing only adds to the foreboding feeling the song presents. This breathing sample coupled with muffled, distorted vocals creates a sense of impending doom for the listener.
Mistah Dill continues to impress in live settings as well. He has shown incredible range, playing tracks covering genres such as hip hop, dubstep, halftime, dnb, IDM, glitch hop, and wave. Dill recently submitted his Mothership Radio Guest Mix episode in a contest and won, affording the opportunity to open for CloZee this past week in Detroit. You can also catch him opening for Supertask, Tiedye Ky, and Super Future on October 30th in Detroit as well.
