“Every now and then a song teaches you about yourself as an artist and ‘Counting On You’ was the first to do that for me in a long time. I think the story it tells is delicate and beautiful and it helped me realize the future for Ekonovah. Not that I’m stepping away from house music — quite the opposite actually. Sometimes you have to leap so far out of your comfort zone, collect some ideas and inspiration, and bring those ideas back into the next projects that you work on.”
That perspective comes through in the music. Rather than trying to prove he can make the heaviest track on the compilation, Ekonovah focuses on atmosphere, songwriting, and emotion.
