As many of us were recovering from the haze of EDC Las Vegas a few weeks ago, the only thing I can vividly remember as I slunk quietly into recovery mode was being awestruck by this most-excellent newsworthy headline:
“A Baby Was Born At EDC During Zedd’s Set!”
That’s right folks, and unless you’ve been living under a rock, you too likely heard that during EDC weekend a baby was born at the festival while Zedd began his epic performance at Kinetic Field. But that’s not entirely the truth.
Cristina Celis, the mother, went into labor during Zedd’s set and subsequently gave birth to a healthy baby girl. But the baby was not born under the electric sky, but rather, under the care and supervision of medical staff at University Medical Center in Las Vegas Sunday morning. When Zedd heard about the news, he sought her out on Twitter and congratulated her on the remarkable event.
Cristina and her new daughter Izzabella Daisy Garcia, however, won’t be able to return to their home state of California for 4–6 weeks due to complications related to childbirth. To help with the premature delivery, a GoFundMe was created to assist with medical bills and travel funds necessary to get them back to their home state in the coming months.
