A Quick Sit Down With Residuo

Article by: James Jimenez

After dancing my heart out to one of my favorite sets of the weekend, I was lucky enough to have a quick chat with the two that make up Residuo. Dono and J were ecstatic after getting off the stage, describing their set as flawless and they enjoyed seeing how much fun the crowd was having. They stated that this was their first time attending the festival, but instantly felt at home and surrounded by like-minded people. When asked about how the two got their start, their origin story comes from late nights after Mill Ave experimenting with music on broken CDJs together. The rest is history.

The boys said they pull inspiration from various genres including Hip Hop and RnB, then proceed to mix those together with House. A few other sources of inspiration for these guys’ sound include Joyryde, Malaa, AC Slater, and Ranger Trucco just to name a few; but they have crafted a unique and entertaining sound of their own.

The future for the duo looks bright. Coachella, EDC and Tomorrowland are a few of their bucket list events they would love to be a part of, and in their opinion they will know they have made it when they play at those festivals. Even playing a set on the moon is on their radar, and I would undoubtedly buy a ticket to see that set.

When asked what the two have coming up in the future, they teased a few new originals coming out this year and a release of their set for those not lucky enough to attend Gem & Jam. Overall they will continue to grind all year and play as many shows as they can. Don’t sleep on these guys, they are sure to continue making waves in the scene.
