Michigan-based music collective Mean Mug Music has announced the lineup for its inaugural Sol Fest, and it is a DOOZY!
Taking place in Northwest Florida over the weekend of May 6-8, Sol Fest features one of the premier lineups in underground bass. Minnesota and Mr. Bill will headline, along with an artist yet to be announced. Industry legend Kursa will be making his return to the US as one of Sol Fest’s special guests, along with Wakaan-mainstay Luzcid.
The lineup’s second tier features some of bass music’s hottest acts, including Ravenscoon, VCTRE, Toadface, Ahee, and Spicy Bois’ Meso. These are some of experimental music’s biggest names, gracing festival stages for years. Ahee has personally shaped the musical direction of countless producers with his production tutorials and magic racks. Ravenscoon is coming off an incredibly strong 2021 with his major label debut on Wakaan.
In the next tier, VCTRE teams up with his longtime friend and collaborator Black Carl! for a set as Integrate, the duo’s collaborative project. Black Carl! himself will be playing a solo set as well. Other names to watch from this tier include Noer The Boy, house duo The Sponges, Vibe Emissions, and a special 2-hour set from Super Future. Over the past year, Super Future dove into more melodic, downtempo sounds. He is planning on taking listeners on a journey through his uptempo and downtempo sounds in his Sol Fest set.
The undercard is where the lineup truly shines. Mean Mug is bringing along several of the artists that are a part of their collective, and some other rising stars of the genre, including Mistah Dill, Engix, 2 sets from Benji Robot, Chidi, and Maroc, Bread Winner, BroMosapien, Bröther Bear, the funk-hop master Common Creation, Cut Rugs, Dice Man, FLY, ION, Jordnmoody, instrumentalist extraordinaire Josh Teed, Luminyst, Patches., Sky Suite, Treepeoh, Ujuu, Wuzzy, and Zen Selekta.
This outstanding collection of artists cover genres such as glitch hop, halftime, drum n bass, 140 dubstep, hybrid trap, downtempo, and so much more. Bass music-centered festivals can tend to have issues with diversity, and that is not the case with Sol Fest. There is incredible diversity on this lineup and there are artists for fans of funk, deep bass, trap, and almost any subgenre of bass music you can think of!
In my personal opinion, this is one of the most complete lineups I’ve seen in recent memory. The lineup, down to the undercard, was carefully curated by the hard-working team over at Mean Mug Music. After making a name for itself in the Michigan bass scene, Mean Mug’s collection of artists has been making names for themselves in the underground scene across the country. Combining its superbly talented roster with a number of touring headliners makes for one of the best lineups I’ve seen so far this year.
Sol Fest will be bringing an intimate camping experience to Northwest Florida and we cannot wait to experience the magic and special moments happening on the grounds.
