The legendary German electronic group, Kraftwerk, is just getting started on its North American Multimedia Tour 2025. Remarkably, Kraftwerk is celebrating the 50th anniversary of their breakthrough album Autobahn and their first U.S. tour back in 1975. Moon Lvnding was on hand for their sold out show in Brooklyn at Kings Theatre on March 13.
The luxuriously appointed Kings Theatre made the tour stop feel more like a performance of high art than an electronic music concert. At 8:05pm, ambient noises started playing and by 8:15pm the four members of Kraftwerk began striding onto the stage. Wearing body suits lined with LEDs, they each took their place behind one of four illuminated podiums where they would stand for the entirety of the show.

Kraftwerk played many of their most beloved songs over the 2-hour set. They opened with “Numbers” and transitioned right into “Computer World” with green 8-bit-looking graphics on the big LED board behind them. A few songs later they would play “The Man-Machine” into the aforementioned “Autobahn,” which was accompanied by 80s-style graphics of a VW Bug and Mercedez-Benz driving on the German motorway.
After lengthy applause for the 50-year old album, Kraftwerk continued with “Computer Love,” “Neon Lights,” “Radioactivity,” and “Tour De France.” They finished with arguably their biggest hit, “Trans-Europe Express,” which finally got a few fans out of their seats to dance to the music. They left the stage to a standing ovation.

After a few minutes of resounding applause, they came back out for an encore. Many groups in the audience stayed standing and started dancing when they played “The Robots” and “Techno Pop.” For their final song, they played “Musique Non Stop” while each member of the group walked off to their own curtain call. Although there were a lot of Gen Xers in the crowd, other generations were all well represented. It was encouraging to see parents bringing their kids to enjoy the multimedia performance for one of the earliest encarnations of electronic music.
Kraftwerk is only a few weeks into their expansive North American tour. For venues and ticketing information for the rest of the Multimedia Tour 2025, check their website for availability. For everything else Kraftwerk, connect with the legendary electronic quartet through social media.
