World renowned DJ Dillon Francis, known for his moombahton dancehall tracks, teamed up with urban pop artist BabyJake to collaborate on the song “You Do You.” Dillon Francis has been very active so far this year, releasing a variety of fully-loaded remix EPs, featuring tracks off his most recent album Magic is Real, as well as a remix of Sofi Tukker’s track “Purple Hat” last month. This is in addition to his busy streaming schedule on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday nights since the COVID-19 shutdown of live shows.
“You Do You” draws on Dillon Francis’s house influences to better coalesce with BabyJake’s vocals. The single delivers on the theme of toxic relationships, portraying the feeling of loving someone that seems to love you back, but is actually focused on loving someone else. This track sends the message that it’s time to say, “I do me and you do you” with a chorus that provides a popping bass line and a moving melody of lower notes. All told, “You Do You” is another excellent addition to Dillon Francis’s arsenal of club-ready bangers.
