Endal Returns and Demands “Repentance” on Slang Dogs’ Newest Single

Article by: Ryan Hood

Bay Area bass duo Slang Dogs burst on the scene in 2020 with the Reckoning of Endal EP, a terrifying tale of the summoning and descent of The Reckoner, Endal. The EP showcases the Dogs’ cryptic sound design, as the duo uses deep, saturated bass synths to paint sinister soundscapes fit for a cult horror classic. The EP and its singles were accompanied by some of the most captivating artwork I have ever seen. The tale of Endal is a true audiovisual masterpiece and Reckoning of Endal was just the beginning.

The time has drawn near for Slang Dogs to continue Endal’s story.

“Repentance” is the lead single from Slang Dogs’ forthcoming EP Apostles Divination, a sequel to Reckoning of Endal. The name alone conjures up morbidly curious ideas as to where this tale might lead. The intro of the song features organic sounds of wildlife, wind rustling, and a crow beckoning, as a low bellowing begins to take over.

After the track builds, the voice beckons: “Get down on your knees!” as the listener is greeted by a flurry of bass stabs. The topline drives the melody as the bassline delivers incredible groove and energy for this uptempo tune. From this sequence, we can infer that Endal is demanding repentance from its subjects in the form of worship and obedience.

We’re very much looking forward to the rest of this EP and for what Slang Dogs have coming in 2022 and beyond!
