Coming in hot after his latest downtempo jam with Liquid Stranger, Luzcid released his latest sonic excursion “Magic,” out now on Wakaan. This track is the lead single for his upcoming EP by the same name. For the single, Luzcid tags rising talent and keyboard wizard Jason Leech, as the two create an incredible display of beautiful melodies and a catchy bassline that fills the entire sound spectrum.
Over the years, Luzcid has established himself as a pillar of experimental bass music; and “Magic” might be one of his best works to-date. The opening vocal track talks about the power of manifestation, saying it’s “like magic.” The vocal track gives way to an entrancing topline melody, which is eventually accompanied by an energetic percussion pattern. The song builds and the drop is overtaken by an incredibly deep, groovy bassline that is punctuated with beautiful, airy FX that give the track a sense of mysticism and adventure.
The second drop is preceded by another backing vocals track talking about how dreams and reality blend. The song uses a similar build to the first drop, and is overtaken by a dominant bass melody and much more sinister and guttural FX than before. The two drops vary greatly in tone, displaying the track’s dichotomy.
Luzcid will be making stops at major festivals like Bonnaroo, Bass Canyon, and North Coast this fall, and one-off headlining dates at Aura in Tempe, Arizona and at the Garden Theatre in Detroit. We’re incredibly looking forward to his upcoming EP release and watching him grace festival stages.
